Tensioning the cambelt like Jaap Bouma
I've been following the famous variator/cambelt guide and have reached te point of refitting
the cambelt. Well it's on and so is the new tensioner, with the pointy thing showing at 5 o'clock. I also have the 8mm rod that Jaap suggests in what I assume is the appropriate hole (approx 2 O'clock).
Jaap then says use a screwdriver and the rod to move tensioner pointy thing to align with
rod.. This is where I'm stuck .. are you supposed to lever the toothed tensioner against the rod with said screwdriver ? (seems a bit harsh ..) also when I move pointy thing by pushing across with a screwdriver belt appears to slacken - however I think this maybe due to fact I have prematurely tightened my inlet cam pulley...
Cam locks are fitted and crank TDC is aligned with markers..
Cheers all - off to bed now.
