Belated introduction - I'm the new keeper of a Ph2 V6 GTV. Quango2k's old car if anyone remembers. It's been pretty good to me so far other than some initial hiccups.
To the point - I had the exhaust flexis replaced by a local garage as they were blowing. It was ok initially and then progressively got worse. They replaced them under warranty, but now the same thing has happened again. It's going in tomorrow for potentially the third set. I'm a bit concerned they haven't gotten to the root of the problem.
It looks to me like there's a lot of vibration in the downpipe that comes from the rear bank of cylinders. Is it vibrating because the flexi is shot, or is the vibration taking out the flexi? The vibration seems particularly bad on trailing throttle.
I remember mention of a rubber piece that goes between the two downpipes (in the shape of a figure 8, with the top and bottom lopped off). I don't seem to have that. Could this be causing the problem?
Any thoughts or suggestions welcome. I should have just taken it to an exhaust specialist, but thought I'd give the local guy a shot...somewhat regretting that now.
Also, it has a quad Ragazzon system. Apart from alfisti.net, does anyone have a source for the back rubber bits? One have mine is missing and I've got it jerry-rigged at the moment. Thanks,
