Could anyone help with an ***** Spider roof seal

This is my first time on one of these sites so please bear with me. My partner has an ***** Spider with a leaking convertible roof, nearside near the front. As with most women they love to drive but don't want too much to do with repair. I've obtained a replacement second hand seal (about 9 inches long). Could anyone please advise what the best way of sealing it is and what sealant should be used ?

Scooty pep

Spider Roof Seal Squashy seal around the perimeter of the aperture. Regret this does not have the specially shaped rubber ends of the original but assumes that you have these and can re-glue them in place on the new seal.
Okay This is not the best system BUT short of very considerable investment is all we can do for the time being. Whatever your feelings on the above, it is better than a torn and tatty original seal and it is not a lot of money either.
