Where is my steering lock?
My 1997 Spider TS appears to not have a steering lock.
I have tried to turn my steering (with the key out .... so no engine running) and at standstill I can only get a small rotation due to no power assistance and wide flat low profile tyres etc and with this small deflection I get no lock point.
It is obviously possible that some previous owner had a "stolen recovery" I am thinking, which slightly colours my thoughts about the car. For some reason I think I may now trust it less. Irrational, i know, but there may be all sorts of destruction around the steering column that new cowls are hiding.
Were there any spiders of this era produced without steering locks?
Your response will be appreciated as would the knowledge that the steering needs to be turned 90 degrees before the lock engages. I live in hope.
