Roof Motor shaft snapped?!

Thought I had the usual alfa roof problem of chewed gear in the motor, however when I looked into where the motor is the bracket with the two cables on was hanging. I took the motor off and the shaft has sheared off where the threads start
Anyone know of the whereabouts of a replacement shaft?

On other thread people have taken their motor to a local metalwork engineer who have put a new shaft on the motor. I don't think you can get just a new shaft.

Same happened to mine. My son was at uni doing an artist blacksmith degree, so he got his tutor to weld it back together (after removing from the motor). Now better than new, it is still working after two years

I think this happens if the motor tries to spin a bit furter than the stops will allow and puts strain on the shaft. I don't know if this is adjustable

Mine snapped last year, had a local engineering company make a new shaft (gave them the two broken parts of the old one), cost £70 but cheaper than £400 for a new motor, took 10 minutes to fit, works a treat

Many thanks

Thanks Wayne, it is the soft top roof motor though, not a sunroof. Thanks anyway. Might have to try to find a local engineer.
