ok, im getting more confused now than ever, lots of contrasting information on different threads. i've been reading everything.
I took the car back to ned to be checked over, no faults were showing, and they couldnt find anything obvious. they checked the spark plugs and coils and did a compression test, which showed 4 of the 6 were 25% down. They think this is the prolem and i should think about replacing or repairing the engine soon.
While i take on what they say and don't disagree, i still don't think this is the problem i am looking for. It was running spot on before the clutch went, since i have had it back it is awful.
We had a look at it today and tested all the sparks were sparking and coils and injectors were working. took it to the mot station to test it on the emissions machine. It showed that the oxygen levels were way too high, all the guys there said it was most likely an air leak.
some more symptoms,
The engine is now shaking quite badly when ticking over.
The centre console, handbrake and gearstick are getting extremely hot after a short time running when they were not before.
If you put your foot down, the power kicks back in to life at around 4000revs, but if you build it gradually it does it closer to 5000revs. It's almost like on / off switch.
I think it could be something to do with the maf, and here is where i get confused more,
my maf in the car now is 0280 217 531, which on some threads and sale sites say is corrct for cf3. the guys at autolusso told me i have cf3 engine, but i only have the singe cat underneath, which according tothis thread below, pud (autolusso i think) suggests a different maf number for cf3 and that i should have more cats.
http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/gener...af-gtv-v6.html (Does anyone know the Bosch Part number of my MAF for a GTV V6?)
can anyone give me a definitive answer on the correct maf, should i stick with the same number that is on there?
