Dan, i apreciate the apology mate, but there is no need for one from you as you have been nothing but helpful all the way through this episode.
what you say if fair enough apart from this bit,
"No-one is immune from making cockups, its how you put them right that counts. We'd have liked to have been given the opportunity to put this one right, but Rixf wanted his car back which is why Craig stayed late to put it all back together after the compression test rather than us keeping the car and letting the customer take a loaner home."
They were given the chance to put things right, but the conclusion was, you need a new engine! there was no talk of doing any further investigation, as far as they were concerned the fault had been diagnosed, the choice was either leave the car with you for a new engine or take it away. at which point i was not convinced i needed a new engine so decided to take it away to further investigate myself. This was why the guy stayed late to put it back together, the diagnosis was concluded before closing time.
I'm not ranting and raving, or demanding any recompense or anything, like most people i have spoken with think that i should. But it would have been nice to get an apology, maybe even a gesture of good will of some kind from the people directly involved rather than the defensive stance from Ned. That is what led me to reply in more detail rather than leave it be after my initial post stating i had fixed the problem.
