So last night I had a very panicked phonecall from the girlfriend telling me that she couldn't get her GTV V6 into reverse. Eventually she managed it but after about 10 minutes of faffing around.
I popped over to take a look at the problem and the car really wouldn't engage reverse, it was stiff as a board! I decided to take the gear surround and gator off and saw the problem almost straight away. The bush/linkage that connects to the side ball joint of the gear lever had fallen out of it's home and was barely doing it's job. I tried to push it back into place but as soon as you try to grab reverse it pops back out as it's just a step too far for the bush to handle now that it has broken and is not staying in place.
I removed it and now the gear lever is as floppy as hell (not suprising really) but I need to get a new bush and I'm having a nightmare finding one.
Just for reference, I've attached a photo of the bush and I've stolen another poster's diagram from a previous thread (sorry!).
So this is how the bush looks now I've removed it from the car:
The Bush is located in the the attached file named Gear Linkage (this is the image I've 'borrowed' from another user). It's located where the green arrow is pointed with the annotation 'Bush'.
So, where on earth do I find one of these? I've rang Autolusso and a couple of other specialists who were quite helpful but would only sell me the whole gear selector assembley which I'm not prepared to buy. Why spend £80-£100 when this fix could cost a couple of £?
I've found this online but I'm not sure it would fit as it's for a 147:
My aim is to order the part today and get this sorted ASAP as she needs the car on the road for her job.
Any help would be greatly received.
