What's the ride like on 18s?

I'm going to change tire size to 215/45 R17 to try and improve the tram lining. Its not that bad but I'm going to try it. That and the fact the tires 225/47R17 rub on the inner liners

Don't think they do, my spider was resprayed last year by previous owner and my gtv was sprayed in 2011 again by previous owner.

Andy my 18s feel alright on the spider, on the gtv the tyres are 215 35 18 and it's bloody awful you feel everything. When I got my blacklines I went with the recommend 225 40 18 and although they rub on full lock they are so much better ride.

Hello from Australia, Victoria.

Just got this beauty, one Gentleman owner since new, always garaged, I am wrapped, came at a cheaper price 'cose owner said the roof was faulty & he couldn't get it to work properly.
Didn't worry him as he never drove it with the hood down ? A little bit of checking and bingo hood works well now Can't stop thinking how much fun driving with the top down, he missed ! lol

cheers

then reinished it with 4 coats of Plasti Dip ! ( see foto below ) A simple job really lol

Mines a 97 and currently reads 89405 miles, but I fitted a rebuilt engine at 89300. The plastic center console was 1 of the first tidy up jobs I did, it really makes the interior a better place to be.

She looks a little different from the pictures in post 1.

This is my PH1 http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/motor...my-spider.html

It is a late 96 model and its done 66k miles as far as i can remember

Shes a beaut and i love the car more than any other car in the world

There are a few things left to finish up with the car but im taking my time as things are tight in Cyprus at the moment.
I need to fix/replace the centre console too, replace the suspension and put some nice brakes on too and the last thing which really worries me is that my MOMO seats are ripped from the side and i dont want to take it for a repair as i dont want it to be patched
And i dont know if i can find new MOMO seats to buy :/
That bit is really worrying me

The car is very special to me as it was bought by my dad when i was 4. So i grew up with it. I cant imagine my life without this car lol

I dont spam

That's a beauty! Cool to have a car that you grew up with, especially in such a great condition.
You might be able to pick up a set of seats that are in good condition. Biggest problem is that there's probably very few in Cyprus, and I doubt as many get scrapped due to rust

Thanks

Rust is not a problem here in Cyprus as we get to have sun and hot weather for most of the year. It doesnt rain a lot here.
But i would take the risk and say that my Spider is probably one of the best in Cyprus especially as there arent many PH1's. We do have a few PH2's but again very few are in good condition.
I only hope i can end up with something good about the seats as it hurts my heart seeing them like that and i dont want to do things which will not look good on the car

how to fit keyless entry to 98 spider?

Hello alfa guru's,

I have a "Vision" keyless entry system which I would like to fit to my spider,

not wanting to have any alarm or flashing lights etc, just want the make it activate the

existing central locking electrics so as to unlock & lock via a remote. JB HiFi guys didn't

want to do the install when I mentioned ALFA ??

anybody done this or can guide me through it or provide some advise.

did it once on a toyota celica, was rather simple, just accessed the control module in the

drivers door & wired the remote to that

can it be that simple with the Alfa Spider ?

I've just fitted an ebay special 25 alarm to my spider, with just the central locking and boot connected (and the flashing dash light, just so the car at least looks like it may have a working alarm .Mine had had its original alarm replaced with another, which had itself been pulled out as well,so i just tested the wires that were on the connecting block that had been left (behind the dials) to find the lock and unlock wires
I dont know what alarm was factory fitted on Aus cars,or even if there was one.
If there is one it is either behind the dials,or behind the radio

thanks, does that mean the centre locking sending controller is not in the door ?

doesn't there have to be something in the door there to activate when key is inserted & turned ?

Yes, the actuators. But you don't touch them ever. There is no need. They are controlled by a device either in the fusebox or behind the glovebox ( depending on when the car was built ) and that control device has inputs specifically intended to interface with a remote unlocking system.

As has already been stated, there is wiring behind the dashboard for this purpose. On a Phase 1, it'll be a thick bundle of wires probably ending behind the instruments. You just need to find the two wires in that bundle you need. The wires are Light Blue and White. However, they may not be the only wires in those colours in the bundle so you have to ensure you have the right ones.

No its not, afaik alfa have changed and moved the controller over the production years, could be by fuse box, behind dials or behind glovebox.

Yes,there will be lock and unlock signal wires in the door, but i found it easier to use the original alarm wiring i had. I think the signal wires can be found under the fuse box too (but i couldn't find mine)
Have a look here http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/alfa-...l-locking.html

About time I joined...

Now Bella is nearly worth showing here she is...
Got her last year from a nice chap in Neath, 90k when I got her & now @ 92, four previous owners to him. Whilst she had been cared for it was done on a bit of a budget and not as well as it could have been done. Solid as a rock underneath but awful peeling paint lacquer... looked like a spotty 16 year old pizza face. Red Momo leather, red carpet, door cards etc... which I think is the "mutts nuts" in colour choice.
So far... New inlet plastic pipe, lot's of little bits fixed, cam belts etc, plugs, thermostat, new rear screen..... Oh and a full respray All glass out apart from the windscreen, door furniture, bumpers & bonnet removed and all now back on gleaming.Treated her to new B post rubbers, N/S top door rubber, windscreen rubber, "Pina" badges, rear boot badge, but couldn't get a new "Spider badge"... which is a bit of a ****er as new rear boot bling would have finished her off.
Alarm being fitted in the next few days to negate the need for a key entry as I find that a PITA and I don't want to risk catching the paint.
To do... Wheels refurb.. which I think I am going to keep as standard, refurbed spring pan arms to fit shortly along with coil packs & injectors cleaned, new centre dash / console currently being sprayed the same colour as the dash - matt black. Slight leather repair to drivers seat & then pretty much done ... until I start on the cosmetic stuff under the bonnet....
Did 400 miles in her last week to South Wales & back in a day ... of which the return journey was hood down all the way home.... fantastic... love her!
Yes... spent a lot ... and never will get it back but ... she just makes me go weak when I look at her...
Skint but happy Vans...

I have a P2 but I blacked out the sliver grille with plasitdip to make it look like a P1.

I never liked the chrome grille on the P2s

Photo is when I was visiting the Ferrari Maserati Lotus dealership in Sydney.
