Hi All,

My recently acquired 1996 Phase 1 Spider! (which someone has made to look like a phase 2 at some point.) Only 112k on the clock but runs great. The interior is in great shape except for the usual sticky centre console issue. Also someone has taken the badges off the back for some reason. I've got a list of things to sort out which I will be working through but otherwise very happy.

Another Spider with Elegance (147?) wheels. They do suit it but I noticed on ours (with no spacers) the rear inner wheel rim rubbed ever so slightly on the lower spring pans. I think it was only when cornering but there was a mark on both rim and arm.
I've had a few MOT's prior to it being picked up so I can/t be 100% certain something was not just worn and allowed play. Replacement pans now fitted. New wheels too.

Those are of a bit different dimensions than 16" Phase 1 rims

Some rims are shared with other Alfas, like Edizione 2004 rims are to be found on 166 Ti

So my spider is a bit of a frankensteins monster of phase 1, 2 & 3 bits. Oh well, I still think it looks good

Looks good, well done! Badges often disappear at respray time. They get damaged as they are taken off and cost a lot to replace. I've just re-done my "T.SPARK 16V" and "designo Pininfarina" ones. Makes the car look a bit more loved IMO.

Interesting. These were mine and I'm sure these were from a 147.

Hi AH,

Could you point me to somewhere where I can buy a replacement Spider/ T.SPARK 16V badge? I've had a look around but they seem quite rare!

Thanks

As Mitch says you can get new T.SPARK ones on Ebay (check they are the one piece version for the phase 1, not separate letters on a backing strip for the later cars). I also got the 16V on Ebay second hand and bought some badge adhesive transfer tape to attach it which has worked well. I had to wait a month before a 16V badge came up. I didn't need a Spider badge as the previous owner had stuck that back on but new ones can be found on Ebay too.

I did contact some breakers who had 916s but they didn't seem interested; guess it's not worth their while for small, easily damaged things which might already be a bit tatty anyway.

Andy

GTV 2.0 TS

Cool

Here's a GTV I bought yesterday:

http://i63.tinypic.com/eld0na.jpg

http://i67.tinypic.com/29gfw55.jpg

It's a 1996 2.0 TS with black leather interior. Lots of work to be done, the engine seems to be in a good condition, but the car has lots of scratches, some minor rust issues, and interior must be renewed. Wish me luck

Gabriella

Sister to Antonia. Had her just over a month, needs a respray as the laquer is peeling, needs an exhaust as she currently sounds like V6 and fluid change. Swapped gaiters as they were shot, repaired handbrake mount. Antonia has donated her fan as hers was screeching like a banshee and sorted the thermal resistor. Shes done 75k and like all 916's great to drive and sex on wheels. She is a work in progress but we love her.

Nice car badman. I'm toying with replacing my non Alfa 17" wheels for some of those 16" originals. I'm tempted to get my 98 Spider as close to original as possible.

GTV TS 2.0

I have a 1996 phase 1, P reg 191,000 miles the clock. She has been service regularly ad I have replaced rear calipers and discs, rad, condenser, braise welding new floor pan, upgraded fog lights to the suggested replacements (sealed units). She has a few problems that I can't deal with now. As I need a more trustworthy car. Would anybody be interested in buying for spares or repair. She runs OK, but misfires sometimes, airbag indicator intermittent, (suspected hr joint under seat). With the high mileage, she does like the semi synthetic oil a wee bit. Please call me on 07940 121353, South Coast, UK
