Wheel bearing or gearbox?
I've had a slight bearing noise for about 3000 miles now. Hasn't got any worse but off on an Alfa road trip next month to France with some mates and wanted to get it sorted before I go.
It seems to be from the left front wheel. It gets slightly louder when I go round a left hand bend which is kind of strange as normally a right hand bend would flag up a left wheel bearing issue.
Had it to my local garage to check out and they were of the opinion that the wheel bearings on all wheels were fine. I'm not really surprised they said this. However, they noticed the slight noise and suggested it might be a gearbox issue. Possibly a flange bearing at the driveshaft end.
I'm no expert on the gearbox, is this a possibility?
Note, going round a right hand bend makes the noise practically go away and tyres have been changed with no difference since. Tracking also done.
Any help much appreciated!
