thank you for your reply

I have a 12v 1500Ma mains supply rather than a battery at the moment.
I will try and source a 13.8v supply and report back.

13.8v 2000Ma supply now sourced.

Still lots of 'command not found' in the terminal dialogue,
process completes following clearing of errors: 0x02,0x09,0x19,0x0B
but 0x02 and 0x0B are still present after power cycling ecu.

I then realised..the power to the ECU wasn't even switched on with one of my attempts and yet it still went through the process.

will double check my wiring.

You could also try MES, it works now and I have used it. I still had to cut the L - line tho.

Resetting

Hello All!

Someone please be so kind to help with the reset.
My ECU returns the ECU response timeout message.

I have used the trw2scan.exe trw2.obd command using cmd.exe as administrator.
The ECU was plugged up to a 12V car battery. Wiring looks as below pictures.
PIN:
1-2 (480Ohm resistor) - I didnt have any other at hand
3-4 (3x10Ohm = 3,33 Ohm) - None other at hand
5 Open
6-7 (480Ohm resistor)
8-9 (L-Line/K-Line connecting to 3 Pin to OBD connector)
10-11 (3x10Ohm again)
12 Open
13 Open
14-15 (Battery - / Battery + also connecting the OBD to this wire)

Interesting thing is, the command failed (ECU RESPONSE TIMEOUT) upon following setups:
When L-Line was not connected.
On Original setup
When there was no negative battery feed to the ECU

Also what other ECU is compatible with my car? 1997 2.0TS GTV. Current ECU is 60625181

Now sorted out all possible failures and came back with a Lamp circuit error code. 0x40 on 0x02.
Can't delete it from the ECU. Any help would be apreciated.

You need to connect a lamp to PIN 13. One side of the lamp to pin 13 and the other side to +12v.

Just a quick one to say a huge thanks to both the chap that wrote the program, and everybody in this thread for being so concise! Had a few teething troubles with 2 laptops doing different things, but in the end followed the route of opening the trw2.odb file using trw2scan.exe program and hey presto! Worked like a dream! So so pleased, after being mighty worried having read all the other threads saying a reset can't be done! A round of applause for all! 👏

Number of devices is 0
No FT232 based adapter found

Am I missing another driver? I am using windows 7 and can see the device listed via control panel. Thanks.
The problem, is like mine. We have the same error. The cause is Chinese knock-offs with a CH340 chip and not a board with the genuine FT232 chip have been sold off ebay and mis-labeled. This is also a big problem for a lot of other specialized obd softwares for other car manufacturers because none of the software works with this chip. This issue was causing me to chase driver down driver ghosts that didn't exist. In order to find out open the clamshell end and read the label on the chip. Unfortunately this has been a cause of delay and frustration. Hope this helps someone else. I have a genuine adapter on order with a 3 to 16 pin fiat adapter.
