No, I haven't had any problem with the ABS yet, so that is a blank area on my Alfa map.
Start a new thread with a describing topic, and I'm sure you will get some answers.

There is a mac-OS version included in the download. Haven't tried it though, since I'm not a mac user myself.

to make it easy create a folder on C:\ that you name with a name that you will remember (as an example, trw2scan), copy all trw2scan files to that folder (have you extracted the trw2scan.zip file ?).

At command prompt (you are standing at C:\Windows\System32>) type cd.. (and press Enter) twice (to go backward in the directory listing,\windows\system32), now you are standing at C:\>, type cd trw2scan (or the name of the folder you created) and press Enter, now you are standing at C:\trw2scan> you can type dir and press Enter to see the files in the folder and to run the program you type trw2scan and press Enter.

If you get "ECU Response timeout" you should have contact with the 409.1 adapter, but not with the ECU. Check for "Number of devices is" on the line before "ECU Response timeout" . It should read 1, then you have contact with the adapter. You can doublecheck and pull out the USB plug on the adapter, then you would get "Number of devices is 0" and "No FT232 based adapter found".

I suggest you doublecheck your wiring between the adapter and the ECU. Make sure the K-line is connected but the L-line is NOT! Also check that you the lamp lights up when you power on the ECU, then you know you have +12V power feeding.

A bad picture of the pinout identification on the adapter.

Must admit i have written off an ecu in the process of making my cable dropped a positive wire onto the ecu body what an idiot ?
I have used a piece of airbag loom that somebody sent me ages ago still plugged into the ecu ?????

Double check

GTV-TB no your not evil if you were i would be too we must have the same sense of humour ?
I have been at work on my cable again and have done a stand alone airbag cable would somebody be good enough to check my understanding of the kkl adapter please.
The top pin as we see it in the photo is an earth of which i have attached an earth to go to power supply-------a wire with a crocodile clip to clip onto the ecu itself-----and the earth wire from the ecu
The next pin down i have attached the power supply wire for the ecu-----a wire which goes to the +power supply------a wire which goes to the + side of the airbag light
Nothing is soldered to the next pin down as it is not to be used as i believe this is the "L" line pin
and last but no means least i have connected the diagnostic wire to the "K"line pin
Thanks

Hi guys,

through a stupid mistake I managed to create an Airbag error (put on the ignition while the driver's seat was unmounted) on my '96 Spider, so now I'm trying to get my head around how to use this software/hardware to clear it.
Just ordered on ebay an OBDII 16 to 3 pin cable adapter and downloaded the software. However while trying to run trw2scan.exe in command promt I receive an error message (see pic) about a missing FTD2xx.dll file. Any ideas?

LE: Tried to put together all the useful info from the topic and created a wiring diagram (see second pic). Could anyone please confirm if I got it right?
I don't really understand if the +12V need to be supplied externally while the Airbag ECU is on the car. What about the Ground? Or is it actually recommended to take out the ECU and perform this whole operation on a bench with a DC power supply (like in the video)?

You are missing the FTDI driver. Download it from this page:
D2XX Direct Drivers

For Windows I guess this installation file would be most convenient: http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/CDM/CDM20824_Setup.exe

Btw: Great wiring diagram! Very illustrative!

Thanks for the quick reply Redtop. Just runned the windows installation file and the problem persists. I checked and the driver files were installed (found the .dll in C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\ftd ibus.inf_x86_neutral_b7c6f1ad9f999c33\i386).

Regarding the wiring diagram: did I got it right?

In my laptop the DLL is in C:\Windows\System32. Try copying it to that folder. If that doesn't work try putting it in the same directory as TRW2Scan.

The wiring diagram seems correct to me.

You're right, it was suppose to be in the C:\Windows\System32 folder. Now it works, thanks. Keep you posted with the progress.

Thanks for sharing that!

I got "Crash data present" and "Pretensioner burst". I could not clear the faults, so does it mean my ECU needs a reset? The car did not crash.

If you have crash data registered then there is something wrong with the ECU or if it is
a second-hand ECU then it have been involved in a crash, anyway you can not clear this faults and you need a new ECU.

I'm hoping this will sort the airbag light on my Spider, which has been on since changing my seats!

You can clear crash data, but you need to reprogram the ECU memory with a fresh dump. You need to solder some wires directly on the microcontroller chip and lift one chip leg.
I suggest you go on GTV-TBs suggestion and get a new ECU.
