bad day just before mot!

Thought i would have a bit of a rant...

Driving along today and all of a sudden the exhaust gets a lot louder. On getting home and looking under i find it has somehow popped a stud from the rear bank down pipe to flexi pipe at the joint. Have my MOT on Tuesday so now have to spend the bank holiday under my car drilling the barsteward of a stud out.

Rant over. Grumpy!

Can't see why stud will have snapped while driving? All clamps are present and correct etc.

Bloody alfas!

Did the drill bit break?
(maybe I shouldn't have asked)

No but the stud appeared to be made from some kind of diamond hard unobtainium.
Assuming constant hot cold cycles have hardened it. Took two hours to drill out. Ran out of swear words by the end.

Boooo - Failed!

Offside Headlamp aim too low (1.8)

Parking brake efficiency below requirements (3.7.A.10) **DANGEROUS**

Nearside low effort Rear parking brake recording little or no effort (3.7.A.7a)

Not too bad - worst case new caliper I guess.

Thats why I cant do handbrake turns.....

actually handbrake cables supply and fit will be more expensive than a good 2nd hand calliper.

Mine needed the cables doing last yr for the MOT.
