All you need is a contact in SA then, as the difference in price there and here in the UK makes it a very attractive proposition if those are the only charges involved on import? P3 JTS can be bought for peanuts in the UK, (2K & less) and if they are saleable in SA for 16K thats a 14K gross before expenses, so lets break it down
Car Cost UK £2K
10% on £2K = £200
14% on £2,200k = £308
* If you don't have a resident contact in SA *£1254
Customs Examination £62.5 - £125
Cargo dues £182
So with SA Resident/contact £3,185 - £16K = £12.8K Gross profit
*Without Contact/Resident £ 4,439 - £16K = £11.5K Gross profit
Looks attractive to me on paper!

I think you need to read it again....+50% & the shipping.
Sorry re read you calcs but I wouldn't bother exporting anything other than a top spec model in very good condition. Shipping would be expensive & the price added before any taxes etc.
Also Ian Lusso was talking of a Phase3 3.2 not a cheap JTS.
