As pkr says if its a phase 1 car then behind the instruments... so not easily got at.
First things first, is it a phase 1 - probably the easiest way to tell: the air vents on the centre console - are they round like those at the side of the dash? If they are round, you're a phase 2/3 so the alarm control box should be where tok78 says - accessible by removing the carpet in the footwell.
If there are two rectangular air vents then you're a phase 1. As I recollect, the alarm can be easily disabled on these (assuming they all had the same alarm, this advice is true for the one I used to own!). Under the bonnet, at each side behind the headlights are large black plastic covers. On the drivers side, there is a small clip on cover on this bigger cover. Unclip this and you should see a keylock that takes a hex key. If you have the key then there are only two settings, on and off... If you don't have the key then you may be able to force it - or remove the covers and do some re-wiring!
