OK, that actually makes sense.
The problem is at the fusebox.
The front indicators ( connected to the alarm ) connect to fusebox connector I10 & I11.
The flasher unit connects to F2 & F5, which is also connected to D8 & D9 ( warning lights ) and the rear lights on connector C5 & C6.
You have a break in continuity between I10 & C5/D8/F5 and I11 & C6/D9/F2.
So, when the flasher operates, everything except the front lights/repeaters are connected together. When you operate the alarm, it flashes the front light/repeaters but cannot get to the rear lights or warning lights.
You need to hinge the fusebox down and try and get your head with the pedals to look at the back of the fusebox or use a mirror. If you can't, you'll need to undo the fusebox hinge ( two nuts ) and pull the whole fusebox into the footwell. Somewhere, there'll be a break in continuity.
