Essential that you change the cambelt, the service interval is 36k miles or 3 years, whats the betting yours is on its original belt, if it snaps (and they do) it will trash the engine, so get the belt done before anything else, get the variator done at the same time cos it is accessed in the same op as the cambelt, a good independant alfa specialist should be able to do the lot for around £400.00, after that enjoy the car and fix any niggles as they come along, at 42k miles it should be ok in most respects but its still an old car so dont expect maintenance free .
ps bumper to bonnet gap looks huge!it should be around 6-8mm all the way around, there are adjusters to raise the bumper but they are usually rusted solid, if you cant free them it is possible to remove the bumper irons and re drill the holes in the bumper iron brackets lower down thus raising the bumper when bolted back on.
