GTV 2.0 TS Suspension Options
I'm the pained/happy (not sure about the balance) owner of a lovely 1999 GTV 2.0, which I acquired approx. 2 months ago.
The car was loved and well maintained, and I got it in impecable condition. Happiness lasted until I drove back home, and I tried to park it into my driveway. Due to having lowered suspension, I was not able to. Tried the following days with some planks of wood, and that was a success.
Since, I drove it to Italy - behaved flawlessly, with the exception of some bumps in the ferry port - that was a violent hit, and I somehow made it out of the port with no tears.
I also drove it to Windsor, and, on 5 or 6 occasions that day, I properly hit& rubbed the tight & tall speed bumps in that town. Since that trip, the Ragazzon exhaust lost its sound, and now, the cars sounds just like my old BMW with a broken exhaust box.
I thought it is so low due to fitted stainless steel exhaust, but, looking underneath, the oil sump is also very low.
Can anyone, with a better GTV suspension understanding than me, advise me what should I do with it, please?
Should I put standard suspension spring s and shocks and? In this case, what are the parts I need to buy, beside springs and shock absorbers?
Should I just replace the curent shock absorbers? Every time I go over a bump, the car is bouncing, and sometimes it touches the ground with the bottom.
Maybe I should look into repositioning the exhaust pipe?
Are there other parts which are worn and needs replacing, and are causing these symptoms - like bushes, etc? I can sometimes hear, from time to time, a slight squeaky sound, coming from the centre/back of the car.
I love the way this car drives, and its looks, and.. I don't know what can I do to fix this suspension problem. it's just so frustrating.
Any advice will be much appreciated, and, in case this subject has been debated on other threads, my apologies.
Thank you for reading this.
