Alfaowner you saved me! Throttle reset...

I broke down yesterday in the Asda Car Park at Monks Cross shopping centre in York.
Injector light came on, then the car would only rev to 1.5k revs and no more. Then the car refused to start and the engine key code light came on. This was after some heavy rain which I suspect got into an electrical connection somewhere....

Anyway, the RAC were about to tow me to a garage when I looked up on alfaowner forum on my phone for gtv throttle problems. Someone posted about doing a throttle reset. I tried this thinking it might just work and low and behold, it did! I could not believe it.

This is what I did just for anyone who experiences throttle problems...

1 - Turn ignition to MAR and wait for 90 seconds.
2 - Turn ignition to STOP and wait for 90 seconds (and DO NOT TAKE THE KEY OUT).
5 - After 2 minutes the injector light went away on the dash and I was able to rev the car as normal and drive off. (Some say to leave the car longer than this).

Thanks to the knowledge on this forum, I probably saved myself a massive bill, so thanks everyone!

This looks handy, should this thread, or the original link should be saved in the sticky thread area?

This is a VERY common fix posted frequently on the 147/156 and 159/Brera forums. It has saved many, many garage bills. Often preceded with disconnecting your battery for 30 mins as that includes clearing the ECU of all "learnt" parameters and it relearns from scratch as you drive.

Have a search on there and you will find it in some of the posts as I may not have remembered it exactly.
