Ok, let me state from the start this is not a devalue the 916 thread as i believe that if they were any cheaper they would be giving them away!
Out for lunch today and had the roof down on mi Spider and this friendly chap comes upto me and starts asking me questions about the car and being pleasantly friendly.
He then announces to me that he has a P1 Spider and would i like to buy it!? I ask him where it was as i can never resist looking one over when i see them and he told me just around the corner. Out i jumped and literally just around the corner in a cul-de-sac there stood on four flat tyres and bad lacquer peel red paint a rather nice 96 P1 Spider with a good hood and bucket loads of service history, an original interior and exterior. I then asked if it goes and he replied that it did 8 months ago but he was just back from Canada for a break and would be returning to Canada in 2 weeks time. However, his grandson has a habit of grabbing keys when he comes round to his and the keys had vanished, so no start-up!
The car looked very clean and original inside and he told me that it was a 56K mile car and the engine had stickers on cambelt area indicating a belt change in 2008, the engine bay was very clean, only the bodywork was tatty and it needs a full respray. So, i asked him how much he was looking and he said £500 and i said i would need to think about it and the lack of keys was a major problem even though i have a GTV thats nearly broken and i still have to remove the key system and yellow box so i believe that i can sort the car as regards starting it. I thought £500 was a bit cheeky and with it needing respray its worth £200 max the way it is?
What you guys reckon its worth? Sorry no pics as i was caught on the hop, i will grab a few possibly tomorrow when i go to haggle!
