I hadn't realised that. I just did a quick test and embedding is allowed! Yippee! I think this and my climate control retrofit thread may have to move!

Thanks for the info.

You should mate, then we can get the mods to post links in the "how to" section. Your guides are superb and reading them with the pics would be great :-)

I was loving this thread, so much superb info and written by someone who totally knows what he is talking about, and then just when I was getting to the bit I needed, ie the setting up of the microswitch it all went quiet. Hopefully now the mods have moved this (Im guessing this is the tech lounge?) perhaps pkr can finish this superb work.

In the meantime thanks to pkr for getting this far!

Don't worry I haven't forgotten it. I've just been completely overwhelmed by other stuff including a partial engine rebuild which still isn't complete. Apologies for the delay.

Driver window fault

I have a problem with my driver side window. The car is a 2001-166. The window goes up to the top end, but the motor does not stop. The result is a bad vibration to the window and the vibration stops only when I touch the relative switch. I tried another set of switches but the problem is still there. There must be a window control unit with the micro switch somewhere in the car. Does anybody know the location? Did some researches in the forum, and found out that there is a Services Unit microswitches box purple color (N82) in the back of the glove box. I think this information does not refer to the 166 as I removed the glove box and there is no purple box or any other box in there. The eLearn disk suggests to replace the box (green in my car) placed in the fuses compartment, but it has nothing to do with the windows. I disconnected it and there is no difference in the window operation. I will be very grateful if somebody could tell me where the Service Unit related to the windows is, or any other suggestion on how to solve my problem. Thank you.
