Hey guys, sorry you must get a million posts like this every week! but basically I am looking at buying a GTV, and i have found one for £995 on auto trader which i am struggling to work out if it's good value or not!
My budget is around £2k, but ideally i dont want to spend all of that!
The link to the car is here: 2001 Alfa Romeo GTV 2.0 TS 16V Lusso 2dr Coupe
It is a 2001 51 plate 2.0 TS with 85k on the clocks.
I went to look at it and basically The guy selling it is a car dealer from his home and claims that he lost the key so it has been sitting on his driveway for a year undriven, It has partial service history, It was serviced with alfa till 2005 and then has a sketchy history, the MOT's are all present, and have a list of consistent problems, and there are some recipts for some work done, but there is a 6 month break in 2006 where the car had no MOT, so i presume was off the road then too. The MOT advisory section said that all of the suspension bushes were worn and needed replacing, two of the brake cables had perished, and some other things i have forgotten. Both of the electric windows are broken too (is this an easy fix?) Also i could not find any evidence of the cambelt being changed, though it must have had one to get to 85k? so this would need doing...
aside from the dubious service history and past, the bodywork is in mint condition, as is the interior and the teledial alloys.... the car seems to have real potential but is it worth it for £995? the guy said he would get it a new MOT if i put down the deposit, but can i get a better GTV for a similar price? 1g for a 51 plate with 85k seems pretty good!
what are your thoughts?
