Change your gearbox oil, go on do it now!

Have been toying with changing my gearbox oil for quite some time but something else has always got in the way, you know reading newspaper, hangover, babysitting etc.
I have had for quite sometime the clunk/crunch when engaging reverse when car is cold and a crunch recently developed when changing into third when engine is cold. On top of this the gearbox has been a bit vague lately and not at all slick. Not anymore.

Spent an hour yesterday draining box and the Krap that came out was full off all kinds of dirt and grime, decided to take off the cover on the gearbox end and see if there was any bits of metal there. No metal but loads of black sludgy oil that i cleaned and resealed the cover and then stuck the drain plug back in and filled with 2 ltrs of Tutela Zc 75 Synth Manual Box oil and id swear it was a new gearbox.

So, if your gearbox is a bit ropey? change your oil now it only takes an hour and you'll pat yourself on the back as you will probably say to yourself that its the 1st time the gearbox oil has seen daylight since it left the factory.

I really need to do this to mine! But back of my mind is the knowledge that the second I do it, the clutch will start to slip and the box will have to come off anyway!!
