Crazed High Pitch Fuel Pump Noise....

Hi all,

After searching on here for what the high pitch (exceedingly annoying!!!!) noise from behind is on my Spider, it's apparent it's the fuel pump squeeling away... I cant seem to find any suggestions about just how to reduce or even get rid of the noise (except for not tighting the fuel cap fully - I've tried but it just seems too loose without closing fully for me to be happy...)

So any advice?! Unfortunately I cant drive everywhere with the roof off and I'm not one who constantly needs the radio/iPod on!!

Cheers in advance for any thoughts,

The train :(

Very annoying when you get an "ear worm" like that. I am not sure how sensible this suggestion is in terms of safety but perhaps you could put some sort of foam around it - it would have to be fire retardant though.. Edit: Ignore this, the fuel pump is in the fuel tank.

Or you could try replacing the pump.

The other option is to listen out for a different noise, like the exhaust, or it is a sign that you do not drive the car enough, so you are not used to it. Therefore the remedy is to drive it more and it will soon become a background noise.
