That's a write off in insurance terms.
It may be worth considering asking your insurance company for Cash In Lieu of a full settlement.
If you are unfamiliar with this term, it means that instead of giving you the 'market value' of your GTV (maybe around £1200), they will instead pay out around 2/3 of this value to you.
This amount (the Cash In Lieu) is meant to go toward repairing the car. Crucially, it means that if you do repair the car, it does not receive a Cat C/D rating. However, the repair and running of the car is your responsibility, not your insurance provider.
However, you need to balance this against the cost of repair. The biggest cost you will face is a respray (if you want to colour match your panels).
Your insurance company will push to give you a settlement and write off the GTV, this is 'easier' for them. Ask them what the Cash In Lieu amount is (they MIGHT tell you). If they don't tell you, apply the 2/3 rule to the settlement figure.
Also, send some photos into Ned at AutoLusso, he might be able to give you a guide
on how much it would cost to get repaired.
If, after all of this you decide to move onto another Alfa, I am selling my Spider (in the classifieds), and am open to sensible offers from fellow Alfisti (coincidentally I bought it from a chap in Ballygowan).
I hope you get it sorted, PM me if you want to discuss the insurance thing further.
