I had the stupid idea of replacing the air filter on my v6 gtv phase 2. The bolts on the maf to box had rusted, the support bracke bolts were impossible to get at (thaks to the maf being in the way). Eventually I managed to get it off with a bit of damage and some frankly amazing arm work...one arm to reach under the front bumper for a ratchet with 12 extensions on and the other arm to undo the rust bolt at the top....I hate working on alfas!
The damage is, completely rusted maf clamps, rusted bolts, snapped captive bolt, rusted main clamp, 1 broken bolt hole (the one with rubber grommets) and the plastic cracked around several bolt holes.
What do you guys reccomend I do? I've looked at CDA boxes but they are pretty expensive and insurance people may not be too happy (classic car insurance have pics of my engine bay). People seem to discourage pipercross cone filters therefore I am inclined to go OEM. Trouble is that I have not seen the filter housing on sale anywhere....will a 2L twinny one be made to fit? If so...anyone have one to spare?
Anyone had any luck with CDA boxes...any pics of them fitted to a v6 24v?
