Since just before christmas I've had a problem with a misfire.. Thought it was the MAF, with the MAF on I had a TERRIBLE misfire while going along at 30(ish).. felt like the car was runnning out of fuel, with the MAF off it just misfired everywhere.
Didnt do much about it over christmas due to illness and grotty weather, last weekend I got around to changing the MAF to one I got off here (Cleaned with electrical contact cleaner as per instructions on here).. and.. nothing, exactly the same.
This weekend (after much reading of misfire threads on here) thought I'd check out the spark plugs (look for oil in the wells etc), and while taking out the plugs discovered one of them was somewhat less than finger tight! the bottom of the rubber thingies that goes down over them was scorched white on the loose plug.
Put it all back together, double checked they were all tight.. and bingo! Car all back and working (phew!)
There's still a (very minor) misfire.. not sure where to go next on that, it seems to be unaffected by MAF being on or off and does not seem to affect the power at all, you can just feel it in the engine a little.
But generally... Whoo! Back and nice again! (Thank goodness after spending over £1k on clutch, timing belt and misc other stuff!)
