Today I changed the bonnet badge on my Ph2 Spider. I had read all the previous advise on hear, very useful and thanks. Just a couple of points. I took the whole grill section off, 3 bolts 7mm, quick spray and the rusty little nuts came undone. On close inspection of the way it's all put together, I can only say an idiot designed it. Maybe Alfa thought no one would ever want to replace one.
Anyway, I cleaned it all up in soapy water, then had a good look at it. The 2 prongs that site the badge so it's in the correct position had little clips on them at the back, but the metal grill sits over the back of where the 2 prongs are and to remove it, could have broken the grill. So I got a small screw driver and pinged the prongs, luckily both snapped cleanly and the badge fell out. The original badge didn't have any glue around the edge, it was just held in place by the clips on the back on the prongs. The new badges have the glued surround as it's imposible to put the 2 small clips back over the prongs because the grill stops you. Polished up the chrome effect plastic surround, you would have thought that a car that cost £24,000 in 1999, it would have been made of metal, obviously not
. New badge on, grill screwed back on to bonnet. Looks so nice.
