I've just been adjusting the hood cover catches on mine and had some more thoughts.
When mine was running low on hydraulic fluid, the 5th arc was the sticking point where it all ground to a halt unless I gave it some manual assistance, so maybe check the reservoir level (with the hood closed) and top up as necessary.
To check the level, take out the lining in the rear storage compartment, and using a mirror and torch look for the translucent white plastic reservoir on the left hand side of the car just behind the six metal cans which are the hydraulic valves. It's a proper fiddle but if you get the torch and mirror just right you can see the level, it should be between two lines marked on the reservoir.
