2002 Alfa GTV 2.0 smell of fuel in cabin
I've just joined & first time I've owned an Alfa. First impressions; what a great car!
I was wondering, without scaring me too much, what I should do to look after it & if anyone with experience has advice for me?
Also,I have a smell of fuel in the cabin, particularly when still, & I had it checked out by my regular, trustworthy mechanic. He said he could see stains under the fuel tank, on the 'heat pads?'. He also said to get to the fuel tank to check the seals etc is a nightmare. It's not leaking heavily & still roadworthy but will b a good 2 days work to get into the fuel tank to check. Apparently no easy way in. Has anyone had this problem on a GTV?
Also, I read that GoodYear Eagle F1s GDS3s are best on this car. Is this true? I used to have them on my MGTF 160 & only ones that would keep the car planted so I know how good they are.
Anyway any advice on any or all of these three topics are very welcome!
PS My father-in-law was so impressed with the GTV & of the look of the Spider he's thinking of getting one. Any pitfalls & where one could be picked up for approx £1500 with elec roof, full leather & lowest mileage poss? Thanks again!
