Back to the GTV

Well I have just bought a GTV. I had one last year but a lorry wrote it off! I had a BMW 540 for a while but the craving for another GTV has been getting to me and I had to get another one. In particular with the legendary busso/arese v6.

This is what I found..

Got it for a bargain price too... 1600.

73k miles. Cambelt just done. Suspension sorted recently.

There are a few things I'd like to get sorted though:-

- Airbag light on
- A few dents that need removing
- Exhaust has had middle silencer removed and is straight through. After that it splits into two and each side has one silencer. Thing is, its RIDICULOUSLY loud and the boomyness ruins much of the v6 character. It sounds great on full throttle above 4k, but other than that, the boomyness just masks everything. Any advice on this much appreciated.. What should I do?

Hello to all GTV owners (again). I am very happy to be back.

The standard middle box is not a silencer, more a muffler. What I mean is, it is a straight through pipe, with holes cut out to divert some of the sound into the sound deadening material. An off-set box would deaden the sound a great deal more so the fact yours is missing the middle box is probably not the issue. It sounds as if the after market set up you have is not to your taste. If it's stainless, you might have some luck selling it and then fitting the standard set up.
