Rear suspension - done to death I know...
..but I couldn't find anything that was similar to my problem.
Just about a month after I bought a 1999 GTV 3.0 (May 2004) there were loud creaking/squeaking noises from both sides of the rear suspension. The noise was especially bad when the weather was dry for a longish spell.
I went to the local Alfa main dealer *first mistake* who had a look at it and said the noise was coming from the springs, and recommended changing them. Trusting their judgement *second mistake* they changed the springs (after the requisite two month wait for the correct springs to come in).
Surprise, surprise, quite soon after, the noise came back. I spoke to the guy at Alfa and he said they would take another look when the exhaust downpipe I was waiting for came in. After waiting from the end of October until last week for the downpipe, they eventualy had it in but said they couldn't find anything wrong with the suspension and there was no noise when they tried the car.
We've been out in the car today, did about 250 miles and the noise got progressively worse. In fact, by the time we got home the suspension was creaking like a s***house door on up and down movement.
There are no knocking noises or anything else from the rear like there was from the front when a bush went, just this damned annoying creak.
Can anybody shed any light please? Could it be the bushes? What else might it be? Any help or moral support gratefully appreciated.
