Spider clutch problems

Could not get any gears the other day - heres the problem. Anybody seen this before or can explain why this might of happened?

Mine is in the workshop tomorrow, I also couldnt find any gears. I'm sure mine will look something like that as well

Perhaps the clutch pedal was rather heavy due to the clutch being near the end of its life (the balance of the cover spring fingers changes as the clutch disc wears down)... the release bearing mounting being made of carefully-engineered plastic, I thought only the Selespeed 156s had that. Usually it seems to be designed to melt and collapse once the bearing seizes, but yours has obviously failed to melt and it has fallen to pieces instead

I have seen quite a few shattered release bearings over the years. Think they can also go brittle with age seeing as they are made of plastic of some description.
