I owned a GTV V6 a few years ago and although I loved it to bits and spent far too much money on it, I eventually had to get a bigger car and it had to go
For the last few months though I've been searching around autotrader and Ebay looking for a new 'weekend' car. I've tried a Nissan 350z and an s2000 both great cars for sure but for some reason I kept punching in 'GTV V6' into the ebay search to see what came up. Recently I saw my old car up for sale and considered buying it back but as luck would have it another GTV caught my eye which had a lot of recent history with documented belt change, gearbox, clutch and Q2 diff and so I HAD to have it! Well after a little bit of swift negotiation with the owner, I arranged a price and travelled down to London to pick it up.
On the test drive I was instantly hooked once again - I LOVE these cars! It had a full Supersprint exhaust fitted and was perhaps a little bit too loud because of the straight through middle section but it went like stink and sounded awesome at full chat!
Drove it back a few hundred miles without a hitch (surprisingly quiet at motorway speeds) and have been driving it around for a week with a big smile on my face (so much for it being a weekend car!) It's booked in for a service just to make sure it's ready for winter but so far so good, I'll post some pics when I get a chance.
If anyone is thinking of getting rid of their GTV to upgrade to a more modern sports car, forget it! I've driven most of them 350z's to Boxters and nothing stirs my soul like the v6 GTV, it's better looking by far and the engine is simply the best
