I'd say yes I'll come and help you, however my bella is currently lying in the gutter, like a cheap 'ho, with the grease of a dirty mechanic all over her beautiful bits.
Oh man what a shame, was this saying you would if you could
? I hope old bella gets well soon for you.
PS, that's a brilliant offer about the gearbox.
I know a total gent isnt he. I really owe him for this.
indeed it looks like a bit of a mix up here........unless by a million to 1 chance the gearbox went at the same time as clutch damage I would not expect any damage to the gbox so a clutch renewal kit with a new fork if needs be should survice (assuming the fork can be replaced seperate to gbox)
I only have one shot at this and EauRouges offer is a total match winner, he may have saved my car. Personally I wouldnt feel comfortable just changing the clutch. I guess if you had driven my vechicle for 6 weeks and lived with this you might understand but I have never come across this problem so bad in a car before, it really is dangerous when it does it and I am worried that it will do it on a motorway which would be just awful.
EauRouge - Got the gearbox fitting sorted today and at a superb price. £180 all in, total price. Basically it takes 5.6 hours so labour intensive but the garage I have found where spot on, not rude towards Alfa's and he has worked on many Alfa GTV's in his time. Also the place only does transmissions
he is happy for us to send it straight to his garage and have me drop my car around there so for around £260 I dont think I can go wrong. I have had very mixed quotes back today for fitting a TS gearbox and it really isnt cheap, the best being £280 at my mechanics and I have had as much as £400 obviously depending on labour charges per hour so when he said he knows Alfa GTV's and he can do it all in for £180 and being a transmission specialist then this surely must be my best price, surely. PM'ing you now buddy.
