There's obviously a break in the circuit. The light in the switch has its own supply, so that's why it illuminates... but no juice at the lights or on the dash means that the switch isn't actually activating anything.
Check the connections at the relay because it's unlikely to be a multiple failure. For instance, if one, or even both, of the connections to the bulbs failed then the dash light would still work.. etc.
So, it's something affecting the whole circuit (you've already eliminated that it's not the switch)... so look at the front of the car (around the fusebox) rather than for something at the back.
