I think just using a jack it'll be a pig of a job. If I remember correctly, just the oil-return of the turbo goes into the front side of the sump, and no other oil-related connections.
But the exhaust of the rear cylinders goes past the sump LHS to the turbo, from turbo to the rear the exhaust is on the RHS of the sump. Those are in the way should you want to remove the sump, oil pump is no problem as that will stay on the engine.
So if you remove all of those bits of exhaust, which is a pain lying on your back, you would be able to undo the sump yourself.
If you want to weld it is up to you, depends a bit on the quality of the welder doing the job (it aluminium) and how the crack looks.
