My experience with a Ferrari Mondial and an F355.
Had it for just over five years. For the first three I would start it every month or so. It was on an Accumate charger/conditioner the whole time in a garage with a dust cover.
The fourth year I put it in the garage as above and left it. Stored for six months over the Winter every time. The final year it was on a SOR, not sure what the dealer did.
Only stored it over last Winter. Axle stands, accumate (inside a Carcoon) and I never started once. I am about to store the Spider and though I don't have enough room for another Carcoon it will be stored under a carport with a dust cover, no axle stands as I will need to move it regularly.
I personally think you should only start the car if you intend to take it for a proper drive. 20 mins on the drive is not enough, idling and for a good portion of that time on choke. Lots of bore wash too. The engine block and exhaust heating up then cooling down causes excess condensation.
I have seen people who swear by regular starting and those that don't. As mentioned above pushing oil around the engine and gearbox can't be bad either.
Most professional storage companies do however run the engine.
