I intend to do this with mine. Never thought about the roof and it being tight or not.
The other thing is starting the car every week, I understand where you guys are coming from but this subject pops up regular this time of year over on ClubScuderia.
I used to start my Mondial every month and run it upto temperature on the drive. I would operate the electric windows, mirrors in fact all electrical items. Also ran the A/C, though it was the old R12 (think that was it) that is no longer used and being larger molecules did not leak like the modern stuff does anyway.
I was told that if you start the car then it needs a run to thoroughly warm up. Doing so also reduces bore wash that idling on the drive is not so good at. The general consensus there being it better to just leave it.
So now I pack it up over Winter (last year put it on axle stands) and also in a Carcoon in a garage and don't start it unless I need to. It does pose a problem regarding A/C and I have decided that I will just get it recharged every year.
Not sure about my Spider though.
Priorities I find, are usually someone else's.
Statements above are all my own opinion and not fact.
