First post here, so take it easy on me.
I've had an 01 156 for the past three years, learned a lot (especially about suspensions) and having had the steering rack reconditioned two years ago, it's now failing again and pretty much beyond economical repair.
So I'm looking for a new car, lucky in that I don't need one anytime soon, and can spend some time looking around.
My 156 was the 1.6 basic spec, I've seen the facelift models, and they look good, but I'd love (at least I think I would) a gtv, always loved the looks of the spyder!
So I'm wondering if anyone who has had one has any feedback, with the 156 I knew to check the oil, change it regularly, keep up with timing belt/variator/spark plug changes, listen for knocking when driving, check the wishbones, etc.
Anything else I need to know about the GTV? If you've had one, would you take on another? My 156 ( stupidly called Bullit) was great fun to take out for a decent drive on a bendy road after a bad day and needing to unwind.
Mileage wise, I'd do about 10k a year now, as in ten thousand, combination of regular short trips, and fortnightly/monthly 200k mile round trips.
