The inner sills rust, because the front wheels throw up stones and grit which wears through the underseal.
My last GTV was suffering from some surface rust in this area, which I promptly cleaned up, pained with cold galvanising paint then re-undersealed.
The floor wasn't galvanised on GTV's or any Alfa of that era, hence why they usually lookm good on top but are rotten underneath.
GTV's don't rust anywhere near as badly as 156's though in general, of which some have failed the MOT due to rust just after the 8 year corrosion warranty expired.
It is a shame, as it looked like Alfa had sorted their rust problems for good in the late 1980's and early 1990's. It looks like cars built afterwards are rust prone again.
You will never be cool driving a Vauxhall.
