Re: GTV Turbo Engine
Insurance groups vary from one company to another. I used to be insured with Zurich through a broker, and when I asked about insuring the 2.0 TS GTV they said it was group 19 and wouldn't insure me, didn't even try fobbing me off with a stupidly high quote! What a load of rubbish!
Most car magazines give insurance groups. Top Gear lists the 2.0 TS GTV as 16, the Spider 2.0 TS as 17, and the 3.0 GTV as 17. Now that can'e be right can it!!
I'm 23 with 4 years no claims, no accidents or penalties against me and the best quote I got for my GTV Lusso was just over £900, but with a £600 excess - ouch! That was after a week of shopping around. I did get one quote of £1800!!! I will have to wait a few more years before I even consider a V6!
Fitting a V6 turbo to a car that was originally a Twin Spark would mean that the car would be considered a conversion, even though you would be using OE Alfa parts. You would have to go to a specialist as some of the big insurance companies either won't cover you, or ask silly money for modifications.
