Hi JR Racing, thanks for the post.
I would completely agree with your comments, when i first had the car it was terrific handling, your account is exactly how i would describe it!!!
The rear was powerflexed when a spring pan arm ate its way through the subframe (replacing this didn't seem to affect the handling), however this replacement was done during the first 6 months of ownership when, dare i say it, i wasn't that accustomed to the handling and subtle differences may have been missed/unnoticed.
When the front wishbones were changed, as a advisory from MOT, was when it was really noticable. The car was aligned when this work was done. Since then the suspension was upgraded, shocks and springs (seemed to worsen the problem) and then the track rods which i found to have play. All re-aligned two/three weeks ago. Still having problems.
I think its because i know how good these cars can feel to drive is why i'm pulling my hair out. Its the final piece of the puzzel, otherwise the cars immaculate for 12yrs/105,000 miles & my pride and joy.
But you got me reminicing about my first car!!!!! I miss that old gal!
Toyota carina 2, 2 litre diesel, £150, they dont build them like that anymore.
Thanks for the post JR Racing
