Hopefully , I am just coming out the other side of my most recent nightmare.
My gtv went into limp home about 2 months ago now and no one seemed to be able to diagnose why.
The fault code was for a knackered throttle body motor. This was replaced but the fault wouldn't clear and the new ( second hand ) part was sent off to be reconditioned. £120 later(plus the postage) and the car was still in limp home mode.
The ecu was then sent off for testing and the result was that it was knackered beyond repair.
As a consequence, I have now had a second hand ecu fitted along with all lock barrels (inc. glove box and boot locks) and the whole episode has just cost me the best part of £800!
On the plus side tho', I have just been for the first blast down the road for nearly two months and fallen in love all over again. Has anyone else suffered this problem. What causes an ecu to be damaged beyond repair?
