Buyers, & therefore adverts, initially are price driven + it's clearly stated in the wording.
No one is taking them down, but what irks is for someone who has exploited the cheap GTV's knocking around and then selling on for a profit with a nice advert and polish
and dealer facilities, to then start throwing around accusations that because alot of people are now realising the true value of the GTV he's panicking about his business.
+I SOLD 3 LAST MONTH
Dont blame us blame the market and Parkers who say a GTV V6 is worth 1500 max. lol:
MR PARKER COULDN'T VALUE A FIVE POUND NOTE, HE SELLS BOOKS
I could pick up a V6 GTV 103k miles with full aero and teedails for 1500 now on autotrader. Please tell me the point in paying 5-6k for one, whats the point?!!
BECAUSE TO BRING IT UP TO RETAIL STANDARD WOULD COST THOUSANDS
Lovely car but market is dead for them and they will keep going down.
MARKET IS QUIET BUT KEEP TALKING THEM DOWN & THEY WILL
Also as an aside surely there must be some rules about a dealer selling a car with a picture for a certin price, then when you look deeper they will charge you more for the wheels it has in the pic!!!!!
Unfortunately this thread has sunk to a personal attack on my business from, yet again, Tigertown....who knows little about me or what amount of preparation is carried out on my cars for retail. His implications are quite laughable, if only it was as simple as he implies.
I've re read my 1st post, where I did ask for replies not to get too personal, & I can't see anything wrong with my original questions/suggestions as to why prices are low at the moment. I also quoted my last 3 August sales of GTVs @ £7500, £5800 & £3750.
If anyone cares to read it again you will see that I mention a few of the GTV's flaws but generally I think it, especially the V6, is a classic. There are only approx 1,000 V6s left in the UK, maybe less now, & that includes the 3.2 + Spiders which both are rarer than the GTV. It's mainly the V6 which I'm concerned about not the TS as there are so many of them, sorry. The combination of the V6 engine & the GTV's styling is what makes them quite special, IMO.
I've always had a wide price range available depending on the vehicles' condition, spec, mileage etc...the same as most dealers would.
Please check my sold cars by scrolling down the 'Alfa GTVs & Spiders' page, they range from £8995 down to as little as £1500 for an unprepared example.
I think, & hope, that my experience & knowledge of GTVs is probably a bit larger than that of Tigertown who did dable in dealing with a GTV Turbo not so long ago. I wasn't one of the one's who gave him a hard time then, although he never bothered to reply to my last post/question either: http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/alfa-...-v6-turbo.html
He did suggest that '"GTV dealers"
' want to catch people unaware of true value and sell for profit'. Well in this day & age I don't know anyone who doesn't shop around checking values & prices on the internet, maybe looking at a few examples before eventually buying...sometimes from me. Please remember I don't 'cold call' customers they call me.
It seems it's ok for the public to buy a GTV at a bargain price, pay the same again on servicing, cosmetics & upgrades etc, therefore possibly costing them double their original outlay, but for a dealer to do the same & ask a profit on top is a crime to humanity
. Being in the trade my costs are usually less than the private owner so the price can work out the same anyway. Some buyers don't want the hassle of either doing the work themsleves or paying expensive labour costs plus the car being off the road while being worked on. These are the customers that I'm hoping to sell to, not the bargain hunters.
There is a BIG DIFFERENCE
between a private owner spending £3k on their car during ownership & a dealer spending £3k preparing a car for retail. The dealers car normally doesn't travel any miles until sold whereas the private car usually does, the more used the less the £3k's worth of parts etc are...including paintwork which inevetably gets the odd stone chip etc.
Also he posted: 'Conversly if someone buys a GTV for 2k sticks a fancy dress on it and gives it a polish, does that make it 6k and not a shed
Well it's what's under
the dress that's important but perhaps he's not interested in that sort of thing?
Hopefully that's enough of Tiger & me 'bashing' each other, perhaps we can get back on topic please(rather than have this thread closed)...which really was 'do comments posted on AO have any effect on GTV's values'? IMO I think they might.
Not: are car dealers robbing b******s? IMO no more than anyone else in the retail industry & we're not responsible for the economic durnturn of the capitalist western world unlike the politicians & bankers......especially hedge fund managers!!!!!!!
