I've come a long way since March. I bought the GTV, which was a first for me in many ways. My first Italian car, my first Alfa, my first V6, my first 150mph car, and the list goes on. I knew practically nothing about Alfas, or indeed about GTVs except I wanted a V6 with Teledials, as original as possible, with a detailed history, all for less than £2500.
She came with her fair share of things to sort out, but nothing majorly wrong.
I joined you all on here, and have been addicted ever since. After getting loads of really helpful advice, and even bundles of personal help (thanks Starkers!), I have been enthused to bring the car to an exceptional standard, mechanically, cosmetically, inside and out.
So far I have had the cambelt changed at Giallo in Hildenborough, serviced by the good chaps in Rusper, put clear side repeaters on, Powerflexed the top engine mount
, cleaned the engine bay, fitted white leather interior
, replaced aftermarket aerial with OE aerial
, changed the brake fluid
, changed the MAF, refurbished the Teledials
, fitted 4 new tyres, as well as fully detailing her several times and lots of other small jobs. I've spent alot more money than perhaps I would buying a 'fully sorted' example to start with, but I wouldn't have had half as much fun
...and I've learnt a hell of alot!
Now, she's booked in at Autolusso to (hopefully) have the last remaining niggles corrected. She needs a couple of rear bushes, 4-wheel alignment and an investigation of the aircon system due to the 8x flashing LED. I bought the white leather from them, and have spoke to Dan on the phone - I've got every confidence she's going into good hands - genuinely looking forward to going up on Tuesday.
I really want the car to be immaculate.
Thank you to everyone who's offered advice on this truly excellent forum and helped along the way - you're all helping make this car a fantastic example.
