Possibly more RHD Cups?

If you look at the plaques and where and how stuck on its fairly random so again the Silver cars would have been produced and the LHD V6 cars then produced. Or Via versa.
Or the V6 LHD ones were produced at the time of the UK batch.
Numbering could have been done at anytime maybe when all the car interiors were in and 400 odd cars were all ready to be finalised

I am not ignoring your facts just looking at strong logical probablity rather than possibilities.

These must have been done LHD otherwise they would have been shipped to the UK.

I'm not discounting your theory re the numbering, as it does make sense, but it takes time to find the facts.

AR Switzerland** are meant to be coming back to me & I'm contacting AR in Italy.

** Chassis no: '7004279' was supplied new by a Swiss dealer but was RHD.

As I've said earlier, as & when another non UK V6 Cup is found & if it's Cup number is less than 239 then we can agree that the 264(239 TS+25 V6) non UK Cups were numbered 'randomly'.

Some of these could still be RHD, bound for South Africa for example.

I've PM'd you re some other points/leads which I'm currently working on.

UK Cups are all RHD, red, and 3L V6. Numbered from 1 to 155

LHD Cups are silver, and with 2L TS...
BUT ... Swiss market had some Red LHD Cups (in 2L TS AND 3L V6)
I don't know how many ... These LHD Cups are numbered from 1 to ...?
So original LHD 3L V6 Cup exist !

And if you take a look at interior plates, RHD are written in red, and LHD in black

Thanks, we know about the colouring of the plaques but it's the numbering of the 'odd' 25** LHD(possibly some RHD) which is confusing the issue at the moment.

**AR have confirmed they produced a total of 419 Cups, 180 V6 & 239 2.0 TS.

I've already had confirmed that ch' no' '7004279' is a LHD(even though Eper shows it RHD) Red V6 Cup sold through Switzerland & am trying to ascertain the Cup number through a Swiss used car dealer who sold it more recently......not sure exactly when though at the moment.

Due to PJiri's 'incorrect' ch' no'(we're discusssing it privately rather than in an open forum...for the moment) being virtually the same as the 'other' LHD V6 Cup it could still turn out to be the same car but is looking doubtful due to dates sold etc. Too much mis-information rather than correct details.

If PJiri's is correctly numbered 74 then Persimmon's theory of all non UK Cups being numbered 1-264, including V6s, is probably correct but until we can find another genuine non UK V6 Cup LHD/RHD with the ch' no' correct & the Cup Plaque number I would like to wait before including them in the listing.

I'm currently 'talking' to Switzerland & Italy trying to find out, it takes time unfortunately.

It IS correct, I have already saw some LHD/RHD CUPs which had same number plate

RHD are numbered from 1 to 155
LHD (TS and V6) are numbered from 1 to ... 264?

then please confirm with another(not '7004279' or Cup 74) non UK V6 Cup, preferably with chassis number & Plaque number.

A Cup numbered higher than 239 would also be of help.

I remember of number 33, which I saw in Swiss in LHD, and which is owned by Johno Cup in RHD here on AO.

And also number 34, which is owned by Ron Tyler in RHD, and by mARg in LHD (here => http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/intro...154-hello.html (Hello)), both on AO

Here some numbers :
=> http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/alfa-...no-33-a-5.html

Cup 33 RHD = 7004484
Cup 34 LHD = 7004262

Cup 33 RHD = 7004484
Cup 34 LHD = 7004262
....after a bit more searching & HPi checking.

It doesn't help when Eper lists ch' no's 7004262 & 7004279 as 'GD' (RHD) & only 1 steering rack for 'V4' (Cup).

Thanks ToxyMatt, it seems we had the facts all along....'hidden' in the depths of previous threads.

...this is the Cup list.

Perhaps start another thread for these 'unusual' ones.

Can you include all the Silver European ones in just one post when you find a few please?

I'll update the list a bit later.

Thanks

How did you get on viewing number 138? I remember seeing it for sale at the start of the year but it must have not sold then? The photos in the ad are terrible.
I must admit I have been tempted to go up there and have a look myself.

Well I didn't buy it, I ended up buying Hawkman's GTV.

It wasn't in as good condition as the one I ended up buying and was £1500 more expensive.

There were a number of things that put me off

1. The engine was fully warm when I arrived
2. The paint work had quite a few blemishes, lacquer marks and the drivers mirror was scuffed
3. The rear of the car was squeaking over bumps
4. The driverís seat had a fair amount of wear

I think it is priced fairly compared to the other cups that are on sale at the moment, as it needs a bit of work to bring it up to standard. If you really wanted a cup and were prepared to put the effort in to fix the things above it might not be a bad buy, depending on whether I missed anything in my assessment. If I had the time and money to get it to the standard I would have wanted I might have been tempted.

As a member of AROC I have come into contact with GTV Cup number 61 one of the unknowns on the UK list.

It belongs to Carole Hattam who has owned it since 2005

The registration is S9 CUP

I understand its in excellent condition but taken off the road in June of this year as a Mito Sprint 1.4 has become her driving car.

GTV Cup bonnet release cable

For all the Cup owners here is a tip.
My bonnet release cable was playing up a bit so I decided to replace it.

Now if there are any week end warriors out there and you have thoughts og going to do the job yourself make sure you get the correct cable.
Whilst the Cup is a phase two model (albeit late) my car was fitted with a Phase three cable so I guess the other Cups will be the same.
(Mind you this is Alfa we are talking about !!!)

The two are not the same so bear that in mind.
Oh and its a pig of a job as the cable runs from under the steering wheel across the top of the engine compartment and then down the left side.
On LHD cars of course its from the steering wheel and straight down the left side.
Simples !
You would think that for RHD cars they would just have reversed the procedure.
But no.
Not so simples !

Anyway job done so the car is now perfect until ......
