Nice paintwork and good clean engine bay. I know that feeling when you finally get the Cup home and park it up on your drive

Mine was next off the line #101

Sure, just an assumption, although I had doubt in my mind. Got to love the Italian approach.

cup 100 looks nice. did they give it a full respray with the panels stripped off and windows out?

only thing Id want to sort is the engine bay. Its had like half of it painted. the coil pack cover and one fuel rail. For me I would paint the plenum cover and the other fuel rail. Its pretty easy to do and theres guides on here that I used. It gives you a chance to clean up the chrome pipes when you do it as well (be sure to block any inlet holes so nothing falls in) the paint will cost you about 15 quid in an aerosol. And replace the gaskets on the downpipes and throttle body as well.

Im not sure on that color choice. I think I would go alumium on the fuel rails and gloss red with silver strips on the coil cover and plenum cover (or wrinkle black with silver).

the only other thing is the non original matts. Id want a set of the original ones for that car (they can still be sourced but you have to phone around all the dealers till usually)

the above are minor details and fun little jobs to do. the car looks tidy. enjoy

Not sure about the panels and window being removed for respray. I did not have the chance to remove them yet to check.
The car has been defenetely resprayed at some point as it is in good condition and looking good. Attracted a bit of attention driving through Hide Park in London the other day.
I will look into your suggestions about the engine bay but for the moment it will stay as it is.
Appreciate your imput thanks

Looks very nice but what's that aerial doing on the roof ?
I assume it is on a private plate.

Good spot! Confirms it's had paint to the rear quarter at least.

Not a private plate though, why did you think that?

Makes me chuckle that Veloces are STILL selling this on AT. As far as I'm aware the new owner (here) bought it off them a few weeks ago?
Cheers,

AFAIK all Cups were 2002 registered i.e. 51/02/52
Y registrations ran from Mar 01 to Aug 01. From Sep 01 to Feb 02 they were 51.

It's always stated the Cup 100 was the press car, but most of the press photos from the launch seem to feature Cup 42, (871)

I stand corrected. Having looked at Clive's list in Post 1 I see that there were quite a few Y reg cars.

and several press cars!

42 44 63 64 100 were all press cars, all end with PTF on the registration.

There may be more, the Cup list has many blanks.

I guess it was put in by previous owner as the car has benifited from an expensive audio upgrade.
I will need to ask him as I managed to speak to him on a couple of occasions prior to puchasing the car.
The areal was the least of my worries in making my mind up.
Where all the gtv cup without areal than? Did they have the same built in areal as the 156?

The car is not on a private plate. Original plate from first registration in 2001

The car has had a respray as previous owner told me the areas where the car was in need of a new coat of paint. The front of the car was the one most in need not the back.
Areal probably added by previous owner when the expensive audio upgrade was put in.
I will ask him the question.

Cup 100 was registered on 5th July 2001 by Fiat Auto UK ltd Press Cars, Fiat House in Slough.

I spoke to the Alfa Press Office to have more info but it is very unlikely that info were kept after such a long time.
They do register a lot of press cars from their account.
I was advised that they would have looked into it but I do not hold any hope obviously.
Previous owner bought the car with 14k on the odometer in June 06 from Alfanet Alfaromeo specialist around Bristol. I do not think they are still trading or they have changed name.
From the Press Office account they keep the cars for a short period of time nowadays and they could not tell me if it was the case back in the early 2000.
The car was fitured here The Car Enthusiast (Road Test - 2001 Alfa Romeo GTV Cup) - by Caint.com
I hope this clarify more.

The original aerial on all GTVs /916 Spiders including Cups is a retractable type fitted to the nearside rear quarter.
