Interesting problem with a MAF on a TS

I have a problem with a GTV P2 TS. I am still try to find a solution. Any ideas?

The car was working fine and then I parked it and went away for 3 weeks. When I came back the car would start, but immediately the engine would stall. There are no warning lights on the dashboard. The diagnostics (FiatECUscan) also report no faults.
I have disconnected the MAF and the car starts and works.
I ordered a brand new MAF (original), installed, and after a reset of the ECU (disconnect the battery for a couple of hours) still the same problem. The car would start but the engine immediately would die
Any ideas?
I suspect either a Lambda sensor or maybe a problem with the MAF connector or even a relay.
Any ideas?

We have had some heavy rain lately, maybe some water has got into the electrics.
